Screenwriting, made to be read
Write the script.
Get it read.
StagePlay formats your screenplay as you type and keeps every draft safe — then turns it into one beautiful link that anyone can read on their phone and comment on, line by line.
Runs in your browser. Import from Final Draft or Fountain in seconds.
Write
A writing room that gets out of the way.
Industry-standard formatting without thinking about it — so the only thing on your mind is the next line.
Formats as you type
Tab and Enter move between scene headings, action, character, parentheticals and dialogue. Character names autocomplete, CONT'D adds itself.
Scene navigator
An outline of every scene with INT/EXT and time of day at a glance. Jump anywhere, see what changed, lock finished scenes.
Momentum mode
A distraction-free canvas with writing goals and streaks, for the days you just need pages.
Drafts and revisions
Save drafts, see exactly what changed between them, and roll back without fear.
Beat board and story tools
Plan on a beat board, an idea board or the hero's journey — then link beats straight to the scenes that pay them off.
Import and export
Final Draft (FDX), Fountain and PDF in; FDX, Fountain, PDF and RTF out. Your work is never locked in.
Drafts
Never lose a line.
Your script is saved as you type, on this device and in your account — and every version you might want back is one tap away.
Draft history
Save a checkpoint before a big rewrite, compare any two drafts, restore with a safety copy.
Works offline
Keep writing on a train or a plane. Changes sync the moment you're back online.
Two devices, no surprises
Edit on your laptop and your phone. If both change, you choose — nothing is silently overwritten.
One-tap backup
Download your whole library as a single file and restore it any time.
Formats
Whatever you're writing.
Questions
Is StagePlay free?
Yes — writing, draft history, sync and share links are all free to use.
Do I need an account?
In the browser, yes: your scripts are saved to your account so they're there on any computer. People you share a script with don't need an account to read it.
Can I bring my existing scripts?
Import Final Draft (.fdx), Fountain and PDF files. You can export back to FDX, Fountain, PDF or RTF whenever you like.
Who can see my scripts?
Only you, unless you share them. Each share link can be public, limited to your team, or limited to named email addresses, and you can revoke it at any time. See the privacy policy.
Is it only for film?
No — StagePlay has dedicated formats for TV, radio and audio drama, and interactive/video-game scripts.
